Overview to the Web Of Trust Dean & Matty have now added the "Web Of Trust" concept to their advert / profile system. In essence, this allows a "rating of confidence" to be given to profiles that are displayed on the Swing2us Website. This then allows people who view those profiles to actually see whether the advertisers have actually met other users of the Swing2us Website. It is our hope that this feature will help our users to reduce the amount of timewasters and picture collectors inherent within any "anonymous" Internet community.

What is the Web of Trust

The swing2us Web Of Trust is a community driven system that allows advertisers to "sign" each others profiles as genuine. It is a "bottom-up" authority system that allows advertisers to validate each others profiles rather than one central "authority" doing the validation.

Where does the Web of Trust start

To be of any use, all trust systems must start, or "inherit", trust from somewhere. In this case the starting point, or as sometimes known, the "root", starts with us, Dean & Matty. You can imagine the Web Of Trust system like an upside-down tree. We begin by being the first "trusted" profile in the system. We can then "sign" other profiles within the system to show that we, Dean & Matty, personally vouch for these who feature in another advert. This will then show up on their own adverts as being "signed" or "trusted". Once adverts gain enough points (60 in our systems case) those adverts in turn will then become "notaries" who then themselves can sign other profiles and so the "tree" grows. People viewing these adverts will then know straight away that people featuring in that advert are far more likely to be genuine and not timewasters.

How do I get my profile trusted

In order to get your advert signed as trusted you must first set up your voice mail box on the Swing2us Website. Once you have completed the set up of your voice mail you must then find a "notary" that you have personally met. Remember, when a notary signs your advert, they are saying "This is a genuine profile and the person/people featured on it are personally known to me". So don't just go looking for any notary to sign your advert, you will need to know one personally.

Who are Notaries

Notaries, are profiles that can sign other profiles, which are profiles themselves that have reached a score of 60 points. Once your profile has reached 60 points, you can then go on to sign profiles yourself. When an profile is signed, it is awarded 60 points, so to become a notary, you need to get a signing yourself by people featured in other profiles that you personally know.

How do you maintain discretion and privacy

For obvious reasons, we do not show who exactly has signed which profiles. This would lead to many complications concerning the discretion and privacy of individuals and couples. What we do show on the profiles is just how many points an advert has accumulated. Since each signing awards 60 points, it's easy enough to work out how many signings an advert has received from their friends.

How do I sign a profile

First, obviously you must have reached 60 points. You can see this by viewing your own advert. Then, read the following rules and then clink on the link below to go to the signing page. Please note, when going to the signing page you will need your login user name and password (the same ones you use to enter the profile editor) If you have a problem signing a profile please e-mail webmaster@swing2us.com with the information requested on the login screen.

Rules for signing:-

You must have actually met the people/person featured in the advert you wish to sign

Just "knowing" them from the chatroom, telephone, MSN or other messaging service is not enough, you must have actually met in real life

You understand that if you falsely sign an profile both your profile and the signee will be deleted from the system
